The base is weighted for stability, 10cm deep and 6.5cm diameter excluding flexible fins which are 1cm. The arm can be mounted base or mid point of the tray. In theory you can have portrait or landscape, although designed for secure portrait. Mounting the iPad in a horizontal position landscape is fine, not so sure if vertical.

Well made and sturdy, would recommend to friends. Plus delivered the next day on standard delivery.
